MAEKO provides an on-site food waste composting technology which can turn food waste within 12-24 hours, into nutrient rich resource called compost that can then be used as soil enhancer for farming and planting that ultimately generate food for consumption. This business solution is a closed loop alternative comparable to the non-sustainable a linear economy method of landﬁlling. The scalability of the technology allows any food waste generators to responsibly settle their food waste at source generating resourceful output, save on disposal fee and contributing to effort in combating global warming.
Global food waste generates annually 4.4 GtCO2e, (about 8% of total anthropogenic GHG emissions) where its contribution to global warming is almost equivalent (87%) to global road transport emissions. By adopting MAEKO’s on-site food waste valorisation solution which reduces GHG by 66% ( Life Cycle Inventory Analysis), the linear food waste management concept is shifting to a circular economy one which is hygienic, cost saving and contributes towards environment conservation.
